Engine and Transmission Performance
Drivers can choose between a gas or diesel V-8 engine depending on their work needs. The gas engine is 6.6 liters and provides 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The turbodiesel engine is also 6.6 liters and provides 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. The gas engine comes with six-speed automatic transmission, while the turbodiesel engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Drivers can also choose either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive depending on their specific needs.
Towing and Payload
When the gas engine is paired with rear-wheel driving, the Silverado 2500 can carry up to 3,979 pounds. When the diesel engine is paired with rear-wheel driving, it has a payload of 3,715. Four-wheel drive increases the maximum payload of all models to 4,480 pounds. All models have a maximum tow capacity of 18,500 pounds with a hitch or conventional gooseneck.
Configurations
You have your choice of Regular, Double, and Crew Cab body types and a 6.8-foot bed or 8.2-foot bed. This allows you to customize the configuration of your truck until it meets your desired towing and payload specifications.
Pricing
The Silverado 2500’s base model costs around $35,000, with higher trims going up to about $75,000 with all available upgrades. Higher-end trims includes upgrades like wireless smartphone charging, leather interior, head-up display, EZ Lift tailgates, and more.

Upgrade Packages
There are new trim upgrade packages for this year’s lineup, which include the Carhartt Special Edition, Z71 Sport Edition, LTZ Premium Texas Edition, and the Midnight Edition. The LT models also now come with the Appearance and Duramax package.
Trim Upgrades
Standard trims now have more features available for this year’s lineup. All trims have Apple Carplay and Android Auto and the base gas engine has Flex fuel capacity. The LT, WT, and Custom models now have a bed view camera and LT models include the EZ Lift tailgate.
