The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is Chevrolet’s best release of this workhorse truck ever. It offers a variety of features for those looking for a good budget truck on the low end and a powerhouse for those who want to tow or pull a trailer.

Basics About the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500

They Silverado 1500 is a light-duty pickup truck manufactured by Chevrolet. It was released in 1999 to replace the C/K line of trucks. First introduced in 1975, it was an upgraded trim for the C/K truck versions. It is one of the bestselling trucks in America today.

New/Unique Features

The Chevy ZR2 is the latest model released for the Silverado 1500. It is an off-road truck that includes enhanced technology, a new expressive interior, and an elevated exterior design. The latest engine is a 2.7L turbocharged high-output engine with 310 horsepower. New technology includes the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system for higher-level models like the High Country.

Engine Choices

The latest engine to debut for this truck is the 2.7L turbocharged LB3 I-4 that includes an 8-speed automatic transmission available in both 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive. A 5.3L L84 V-8 with 355 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic transmission is standard for the high-end models Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country and optional for the Work Truck, LT, and RST Crew cab.

A 6.2-Liter L87 V-8 with 420 horsepower and 10-speed automatic transmission is standard for the Z2 and optional for all other models but the Work Truck. The 3.0-Liter LM2 I-6 with 277 horsepower and a 10-speed transmission is available in 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive as an option for these models: LT, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country.

Exterior Design

The Silverado 1500 offers nine different trim levels. Features like cab configuration, rear-wheel versus all-wheel drive, engine, and cargo-box length allow drivers to further customize each trim level to their specifications. As for design, the Silverado 1500 presents a sleek and muscular appearance.

Interior Appearance

The all-new interior offers bold new looks and improved functionality. Chevrolet eliminated the droopy door panels and aluminum trim. Unlike many automakers, who have moved controls into the touchscreen, the Silverado still uses physical buttons for items like climate control.

Safety and Technology

Chevrolet made the Chevy Safety System available with six standard features. These include features like Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking. From the standard trailering app to the road compatibility, the Silverado 1500 is better designed to go where drivers want to go.

The infotainment system offers a 13.4-inch diagonal screen that is standard on all models but the Work Truck. A 12.3-inch driver information center allows drivers to see speed and mileage immediately. Google compatibility is built in.
